having trouble with my vp remote fob key thing, its been going great for a few weeks since I bought it, but I replaced a blown fuse in the car today, just the interior lighting and wipers, everything was working fine, put the key in the ignition and went to start the car and the press remote alarm starts going off, press the remote and it doesn't go away, press a few more times and still nothing, little red light on the remote is working but I replace the battery and still no change, wish I had that security key to the dam thing off now any ideas as to what would cause this?????????????????
i'm guessing you didn't disconnect the battery when changing the fuse? will do some research and see what i can come up with, i'm sure you're not the first person to have this problem.
no never disconnected the battery, never thought I would need to? had the car for about a month now just getting it ready to go for rwc and register it, needed a new front indicator and some fuses, but other than that it was going fine, replaced a few interior globes, dome light and some T10 dash ones, was all good, and today went to start her up and got the press remote alarm flashing and beeping at me
i disconnect battery whenever i do anything, even if it's not electrical, i've had a few issues with **** like this before, it just pays to avoid it if possible. just because the red light on the key is working doesn't mean it has enough power to disarm, if you have central locking, is the key still able to power the unlocking of the doors?
Was it working before? Remove the fuel pump fuse under the bonnet and reinsert it (fuse 21 by memory but i could be wrong). This will reset the body control module. Indicators should flash once to confirm. Try that and see how you go. The remote may be buggered though, and new ones (which you can still find occasionally on ebay) need to be activated by a dealer who still has a tech2 with the old VP cartridge to do it.
I find that sometimes I have to squeeze the remote in the centre to get it to work on my VP executive. Not sure if the Calais is the same? I have replaced the battery several times and have also tried re-soldering the circuit board but no result.
no but u can shove the ford idea lol, got it sorted though, looks like the zardi lock had been forced and broken, and had managed to rattle around a bit switching it on, so its been switched off and secured into place this time, and the key fob and central locking set up isn't factory, god it would have been nice to have that bit of info when I bought the thing
