VP heater box leak

I recently replaced the entire cooling system of my VP Calias only to now find the heater core has blown. I can get hold of another core however it looks like a lot of work to me (and judging by the negative comments I have seen) and a nightmare of a job. I cannot take this car of the road for more than a day at the moment.

With the cool and wet weather approaching I was wondering if anyone has seen a reliable plug in heating/demisting device I could buy to get me by for now. The aircon works well but it gets a bit cold running that on a cool wet morning.
