a while back when i had my back tyres off i noticed some tyre scrub at the top of the drivers side, i never felt it scrub and the tyres don't seem any worse off for it. the car's lowered but i don't really know what's been fitted. from what i can see the panhard rod isn't adjustable, the wheels are 17x235 starforms, don't know the offset but they came on aeros so they should be sweet for this axle, right? i just the bushes checked out the other week because i'm getting it ready to sell if i find an 8 i want, and they reckon the rear bushes were all good, just the front lower control arms needed redoing. is this likey a cactus panhard rod, or possibly dead shockers?
If the diff is moving around abit - panhard rod bushes would be the suspect. Also the tyre maybe a little low in air. Panhard rod mount can be a little bent as can the diff housing. Or a combo of all 3
so to check if the diff is moving i'll shove the back of the car from the sides and if it shifts over the wheels it could be the panhard bushes? can the panhard itself be bung? i'll check the tyre pressure, but i try to keep on top of that anyway for fuel economy and handling. any was visually to see if the panhard/diff housing is bent. or will i know it when i see it
Make a cardboard gauge up to go between the wheel arches - test on both sides - should be snug on both. Panhard rod mount will be well rusted and uniform in colour from years of road grim - if it and any bits flaking off or odd looking creases - photo and we can have a squizz. To test bushes - yes push car from side to side - should have very little movement if any. Also it only takes 5 minds to change the bushes anyway - that may help to stop the scrub.
