Vp steering wheel/horn wiring

to begin with i have a vp,

when you put an after market steering wheel in,

to get the horn working can you connect a ground to the wire of the horn wire coming out of the steering wheel

when you press the horn button does the horn work or does connecting that wire make the horn stay on permanently?

The original wheel has the brass ring on the back of the wheel that makes the contact. I'm guessing you will need to make the after market unit make contact with this button

an aftermarket wheel requires a boss kit, assuming you have this, i believe the wire connects to the outer terminal and there is a small silver ring that grounds the horn to the boss kit.

the boss hub should have a brass ring on it which contacts a metal spring loaded button thing next to the steering wheel shaft, there should be a wire connected to this ring which goes through the boss hub and you connect it to one side of the horn button. if i remember correctly there should be a wire connecting to the hub itself which is the earth when the hub goes on the steering wheel shaft. on my wheel it only had one terminal as the actual horn button was earthed through the wheel.
