VP Stereo Replacement

Hey. I own a VP Calais, as you could probably tell from the heading, and I was looking to put a new stereo in. I have already put some 6x9's in the back, but the front speakers are standard. Since they are now 13 years old, they sound like ****! I would prefer to get some splits for the front, but I was just curiouse how a set of good replacement speakers would sound in the dash. Also, if anyone has any experience with cheaper brand subs & amps, would you have any recomendations??

Jaycar amps and subs are bloody cheap and bloody good, they are not ****.
