Depends what you mean by broken. I've got the VN wiring diagram sitting in front of me, and if the hazard lamp switch is broken, as in completely broken, the turn signals will no longer work. The other possibility is the stalk switch on the steering column. Seeing as you know that the hazard lamp switch doesn't work, you might as well replace it and see what happens yeah? There is also the possiblility of a bad connection in one of several spots, but in my experience switches are generally where things go wrong. I'd also reccomend getting a gregory's manual, the wiring diagrams really are quite handy, besides which the VP setup might be different to the VN, so my advice could be even more useless than usual.

have looked at me manual and the wiring diagrame looks like it would be the same as the VN, by hazard switch brocken i mean not there, the entire button assembly on the left hand side of the dash is missing however the indicators have worked for months like this, the stalk is 6mnths old was bouhgt brand new, the car had been sitting for a month before i tried to drive it again and this is when i noticed they had stopped working.

ok i've just sussed it out, before i continue i must apologise for my ignorants. it turns out (after reviewing the wiring diagrame, thank you pandaman) the power for the indicators runs through the wiper switch, i had bridged the wiper wires and installed a toggle switch to use the wipers as the factory setup was missing and this isnt a car i want to spend ANY money on. the indicators worked as the wires were bridged connecting the circuit, however at some stage theses wires had come loose thus prohibiting power to the indicators. problem solved.

thank you very much for your time and advice.
you may all throw rottin fruit at me now.

Lol, glad to be of assistance. Sounds like your car has some pretty dodgy electrics.
