So ive had some problems with starting my ClubSport (auto) wouldnt kick over at all after sitting doing nothing for a long time but had power to everything and fuel was injecting properly...Got it started with a BIG battery and a jump at the same time to get it running...Switched her off and put a 550cca battery in it and kicked over just fine and running....However! I went to kick her over again later this evening and she wouldnt, I pushed the key in a little more a few times trying different pressures of pushing the key in for more contact with immobilizer and then it finally started again...Could the key be on its way out? or the Barrel? :hmmm:
Could be the contact ring around the ignition barrel. Try prising it up a little to encourage better contact with the key head. Have you checked for error codes ?
Its inside the distributor and you will need to replace the entire dizzy. It basically sends a pulse to the injectors telling them when to fire and it also tells the ignition system to send spark at the right time. Check that you have power getting to your coil by putting a test light on one of the bolts. Both bolts on the coil will light up positive (+) when you crank the engine as this ignition system pulls its earth from the ECU and will flash on and off but it will also rule out a dodgy Hall Effect Sensor if it flashes.... Or pull a lead off and put and old plug in and see if its sparking. They are both a bastard to check and replace, they sit behind the engine and there is stuff all room to work on them. Best bet is to remove the inlet manifold and do it that way, it is actually quicker and easier. When you have done that do yourself a favour and relocate the coil to a accessible position. I just drilled a hole further up, through the wiper blade valley.
