Hi Guys. Can I please ask if this 5ltr block is possible to use as a 355 stroker build. Just noticed the small casting crack/chip on the lower cylinder bore edge.
I wouldn’t throw much cash at that, I’d rebuild as a 304 and put a decent hyd flat tappet into it and have some fun.
You’d need to have it crack tested at least and smooth the area around that damage to reduce stress concentration.
Look for another block if you really want to do it all properly.
It's not the end of the world and if it was a fully machined block with lots of $$$ invested I'd say re-use it but as this looks like a clean sheet build you are probably better off sourcing another block before you spend lots of $$$ at the machine shop.
Think they hit wrong part of the block...usually grind oil pan section maybe base of bore depending on crank/rod combination.
Big question being how d.i.y mod in pic helped with clearancing on vr/s block that's done from factory...it's vn/p & anything earlier need to bust out the grinder.
