    VR Commodore with VY3.8
Hey everyone first time on here. Im only 16 so need a bit of advice from people with more experience. I have a 94 vr ute as a project. When i bought it, it came with a 3.8 ecotec, pretty sure out of a vy but i also believe vt - vy ecotecs are all roughly the same. So i was wondering because it is an auto when i go to buy a manual conversion kit do i get a vy kit or vr? if the cross member needs to be changed for the vy box im not too worried. Also has a live axle and i want to change it to a lsd. Do i need to buy the complete diff or can i just change the centre?? All help is appreciated :)

Congratulations on owning a real vehicle :)

1: The VR Conversion ( T5 ) suits Series 1 VS. As your ecotec is out of VT-VY you will need the Getrag 5 speed box.
2: I believe that the mounting points will be different for the XMember.
3: Im not sure about the diff.

You should be able to run the T5 Box, just make sure you have the Fly wheel match balanced (mirror balanced) to the Flex plate.
Can't remove just the center of a live axle, its all one big diff. You can either replace it a LSD (Live axle) or get the internals changed over to a LSD.

Be aware that if you buy a 2nd hand LSD, there will be no guarantee that it will act like a LSD should - the clutches etc inside the LSD can wear out in quite a short mileage. If/when you buy one, make sure you take someone with you who knows how to check them.
I'd go with a T5 setup as they are cheaper initially plus if anything goes wrong down the line you will find repairs much simpler/cheaper.
