I noticed something a bit odd on my series 1 vr v6, the VIN id sais that it is a 94 model under the windscreen and under the bonnet, yet on the same plate under the bonnet it sais eng l62 gearbox m30 and then...build SEP93 ??? does this mean the build of just the chasis or is there something dodgey going on? No rush on reply just thought it was a bit odd.
The model year officially starts on september 1 of the year before. For example my VR was built on september 18th of 1993, but has 4HDD on the trans - because its part of the '94 model year. My mums VZ was built on the 9th of december 2004, making it part of the 2005 model run. On a side note, the used car dealer she bought it off insisted it was a late 2005 built car - untill I pointed out the body tag saying DEC 2004.
Thanx Cool, thats interesting thanx for the info. yeah mine is registered as a 93 model and the vin sais its a 94.
Yeah holden have gone to **** with their build dates! It should be if your car is built anything before December 31st, its part of THAT year, not the next one!
Yeah you will probably find that it would have been a dealer-ordered car (IE one ordered to fill a showroom, rather than one ordered specifically by a private individual). If it was a fleet car though, (unlikely if its an acclaim) you would expect it to have a late december build date. I say this because cars ordered as fleet cars, and cars ordered by individuals dont sit around at the dealership.
