i know this is probably a while since and you've probably all ready done something buuuuuut...... you can run the flat tappet in the roller block with the flat tappet lifters etc.
BUUUUT and I have just found out the hard way after building a 355 stroker in my VT senator that the original cam (roller) in that block is a billet item standard as the cast is to soft for the rollers, which means that the oil pump drive gear is hardened to match the billet cam gear. I have just found out the hard way after chewing up my brand new 236* cam gear.
So what im trying to say is that if you run a cast iron flat tappet cam, in a roller block, CHANGE THE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR back to a cast. Using the original roller block oil pump drive gear will destroy your cam and oil pump drive gear.
