Yes it can be done but be aware that the drive shaft flange is different on the later model diffs.

Yep, just need to change the flange on the pinion - be careful though, the preload will need to be exactly the same as before otherwise you'll alter the mesh of the gears if you crush the collapsible spacer any more than it already has been. I'd mark the nut and flange to give a reference point, then loosen with an impact gun, then use a torque wrench to see how much tension you need to get the nut back into the same position. Refit the new flange and tighten the nut to that tension setting.

It won't be perfect but it'll be close enough.

Exchange the flange and cut off the extension on the end of the pinion that supports the rubber coupling the VZ uses.

Gear mesh shouldn't change unless the pinion is loose and can float, a touch more pre-load shouldn't hurt as the pinion bearings will have worn in and loosened up with age.

I'm going to install a truetrac centre but i'll get a diff specialist to sort the flange preload. Question if I remove diff from cradle do I need to mark diff position how it came off. Does it need to aligned or is it set in one position.

Just unbolt from cradle. Get a pro to install the trutrac as the pinion will need to be machined for clearance and the bearing clearances will need to be set along with the preload.

As i run a irs rear, with the half shafts do I run the vt-vz flange or do I use the vr ends they are different. Also with the abs will my sensors on the diff will they work or are the frequencies tuned differently from the vr model. I'm not shore if the connection is the same. Ill have a check online as well and maybe go to a pick a part spend day comparing diffs and fitment. But any help would be great.

It should just bolt in, use the VR shafts with the flanges that are already in the housing. Just use the VR ABS sensors. You'll be able to pick up any differences when you have them side by side.

Thanks for the input ill double check the differences ill take my time no hurry just gathering parts and information. Trouble is mechanics dont like giving away info.
