haha thats wat i was going to say, theres no way u can make it a calais because its always going to be an exec, but u can make an exec with silver paint around the bottom and electrics, u can even put calais badges on it but it still only goin to be an exec

    Kinda of the same question...

Anyone got an idea what were the options on the VR/VS Calais?

I'm about to go looking for one as the SL/E has carked it. A couple I've seen have said "all options", but I thought I had all options on my SL/E until I found out you could get power windows and **** knows what else.

    What about Dual SRS?

I am not sure where it came in, but I am confident the VS S2 Calais also had passenger airbag as well.

    Cheers for that

I seem to remember hearing something about early VR's or VS's having a really dodgey one-way remote central locking?

And if it had LSD, is there some way to tell by looking underneath?

VR's had a one button remote and the button tends to peel off through wear and tear. As for LSD easiest is to do a burnout ( two lines of rubber equals LSD ) but the better way is to jack the back axle up so both wheels can turn. Spin one wheel by hand, if it's LSD the other wheel will turn at the same time.

Yeah, im keen as hell for a VR Calais, but didn't have the money at the time. (I only had $5,500 to play with)

The only reason why I ask, is because I have nearly all the featured that come with a Calais. I have the power mirrors, a/c, p/s, I just don't have the Climate Control, LSD, Power Windows (one thing I'd LOVE), and the leather seats.

The main things I want to have is the LSD, Seats and the Power Windows..

Anyone know how much it would cost for the seats/windows ?

dont buy second hand leather seats out of a calais, get your own retrimmed and padded out, it'll be more expensive but you get brand new leather and is much more unique. old leather sucks, its usually cracked and faded because the previous owner didnt look after it (which is why they are selling it)

    cheers for the answers

What I meant by dodgey remote central locking though was that I heard for some early model it wasn't all that secure and could be duplicated semi-easily, not really the condition of the remote.

Not worth the time and effort, power windows are a bitch UNLESS you can get a kit from a wreakers off a higher car, eg calais or something. your looking at a costly project, LSD shouldnt be too hard to change over, but im not 100%

my key has the two buttons, one for the doors and one for the boots, the rubber was stuffed on it but it was only $80 for a brand new key so it was a small inconvienience ;)
