i just bought myself some 17in's to get rid of the ROH reflex's that were on it and it took me about 1 hours to get the front wheels off as the hubs were rusty and the rears i tried for about 20 mins but bathurst had started so i gave up.
i have had getting under the car and kicking the rim or belting the tyre with a big mallet suggested to me and also loosening the wheelnuts and dropping it on the ground and giving the car a wobble

is this a common thing with commodores and what should i do as now i have 17in front a 15in rears and looks a bit silly

Alloy rims will always stick to steel hubs, all metal expands when corroded and alloy actually reacts to water contact and an oxide layer forms, this is extremely strong and will bond to the steel hub. Get a long piece of wood and lever against a suspension component such as the lower shock mount or the control arm and give it a sharp tug.

Give your hubs a good sand too when you put the new ones on. The same thing happened when i changed my rims and couldnt get the new ones to sit on right cos of the crap on the hubs. Gave it a hit with sandpaper and cleaned it all up and the slipped straight on.

A good tip too is to oil up ya nuts :) Oil them up a little bit first before you start taking them off, because the nuts should hit the oiled bit and make it a little easier.

It's an excellent tip I used on my Torana because yeah, they have bolts like that all over the place (manifold bolts anyone?). I removed the wheels off it the other day after it has been sitting for 12 months, and because it was oiled - they came off easier after sitting than they did 2-3 years ago.

*Edit: Just re-read and didn't realise it was the wheels sticking to the hubs themselves. Good luck with it!
