Vr key remote

Hey team, the daughters car key remote does not work but car still starts locks manually etc could this turn into a bigger problem? flat battery on fob?

could be a flat fob battery..AFAIK the key fob and blade just completes a circuit to start the car.....you can test if central locking is basically working but getting into the car and manualy lock the drivers door if the other locks follow then that should be fine.....In the howto section there are tuts on how to replace the batt in the fob.....

In the VR the battery was replacable however in the later cars (VS onward) the battery's are soldered in place.
Have a go at replacing the battery, worst that can happen is you have to replace the key fob and get it reprogrammed.
This is usually cheaper at a locksmithrather than Holden and they can reprogram them too!

VR had em soldered on,Well the series II does. As I have one pulled down now......just trying to find a suitable battery

ain't they the 'cr2032' battery, same thing you find in motherboards of computers?

yeah anything with a 20mm pin spacing will be fine,The thickness could be an issue as its pretty tight inside the fob... If to thick it may cause the case to split if the keys are dropped to many times :)

Ha! our local bunnings is useless, since they killed all the competition off..... they are clueless and have bugger all stock
