my mate just brought a vr thats had a manual conversion
but or some reason it wont start we've had it start twice of the key but then nothing
but we can start it with a screw driver on the starter
the conversion seem to have been done proply
with a conversion kit and we've gone all over the car and it just wont key start

im thinking the starter wires are dodgy

any suggestion are well appreciated

possibly bad connection where the inhibitor switch would have been bypassed.

underneath the centre console, its a four pin plug, two are reverse lights, the other two need to be shorted out to bypass park/neutral inhibitor.

could be any number of things.

need to check what is happening at the relay, and see if your missing the signal from the key, the signal from inhibitor/immobiliser, the power to the relay, or the signal to the starter.

does the red security light turn off when you turn the key to on?

That would possibly mean a dead key battery or faulty ignition key ring reader.
Are the tabs on the surround raised up and making contact when the key is turned to the ON position?

Does it have keyless entry?
