vr motor swap

my brother has a 1994 series 2 manual vr v6 ute wich blew up 2 days after he bought it , if i was to source another vr commodore manual from the auctions that has a rear ender or small side swipe with still good motor for cheap what woudl be involved in dropping it into the ute on a weekend with a mate , im pretty mechanically minded done mechanical fitting for a year so no all the basics and the wiring side will be all simple and hoses etc no where they all go just not sure on the gearbox part , do i ahve to drope the manual out to get the motor out or can u seperate while the gearbox is just left on a jack , dose tailshaft have to be taken out ? , how hard is this task , im in the perth region so if newon is interested in a cash job i could be interested
