I went to go for a drive before and it started fine but as I put it in drive it went forward about 2 metres and just died and now it won't start at all... Help?

I tried searching but didn't know what to search for.

If you've got fuel in the tank, next thing I'd check are battery connections. If not this then check that the immobiliser light under the radio is not flashing when you try to start which tells you that the immobiliser is still on. Another trick is to press the "unlock" button on the key just before you turn the key to start.

Maybe the inhibitor switch is faulty......? As it only happened as you went from P to D.

Does it turn over and not fire or is it completely dead ie:
the starter doesn't turn the motor over? If the latter I would suspect the safety switch associated with the gearshift. More info with your initial question would help us to help you
