visible pod filters i think would ruin the cleanliness of it all.

couple of pipes down to hidden pods/airboxes would be nicer.

how much needs to removed from bonnet to clear? if you modify the drivers side one, you'll need to do the same to other side to keep it symetrical

Yea good points, I have ordered a couple of cheap black silicone 90 degree elbows, and I have some 3.5" ally bends as well, I will have a decent look and play with it tomorrow but I think I need something. I love the clean look of no filters at all, still a bit undecided as it also needs to be practical.

They don't look to bad, I do agree though, some low mount pod filters would probably look better and better for cool air.

Need to make sure they won't get water in them though. Also don't want them too close to the road. Will get pretty warm.

this is a problem im having with my supercharger build atm, pod is going to be underneath headlight, foglight hole an intake, but still need to make sure its not going to gulp water when it see inevitable puddles of water

Yea but I was thinking those OTR's when your driving in the rain cant be good either? I mean some of the ones I have seen are like a bloody funnel straight into the throttle body. And the other things is this isn't going to be being driven in the rain too often :)

I don't know if any of you ever saw the CAI I had on my VN but it faced down from the pod enclosure and hung out just a touch below the bottom of the radiator support panel. Admittedly it didn't feed directly into the intake but it did enter the enclosure right next to the pod filter. Now I don't know what the weather is like where you live but here in NZ we see plenty of rain and I'll admit that I made sure not to go through any big puddles but in all the years I never had any issues (that I'm aware off) of excess water making it's way into the intake.

If the pod is sitting in an enclosure just ensure it has a drain hole at the bottom.

I would like to see the carbon intakes stay exactly where they are and how they are.
It would be cool if you found long skinny panel filters to fill the entire cross sectional area where the top and lower parts of each carbon intake meet each other.
the filter may only be a centimeter or two from the trumpet, but would look good when you open the bonnet

It may require regular cleaning though, as dirt would not naturally fall off like it does on a standard filter that sucks air up through it self.

Long skinny filters like the ones the OTR LS intakes use? I think sen is worried about heat as well and I can't imagine they would do to well.

Well have had another look. I just think the air boxes look crap. It just spoils the whole look. Actually had a look at the carbon trumpets I have, now that everything is done they look pretty sweet
    [IMG]

So I am going to refit the ally ones for now as they have the filter screens. Then i am going to focus on getting it through engineering, then afterwards i am going to run the carbon horns. As someone else said, with a set up like this who cares about practicality, I can afford to lose a couple of HP.

straight itb's are definitely where its at(especially carbon, i have a set myself :p), but you may need to use the airboxes to pass engineering, unless screens have already been ok'd

Whoa, after spending all that money on the motor, there is no way I'd be running it with no air filter/s on it. It is your engine on the line though.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't mind the look of the boxes but just trumpets is good too.

As I have said before this car is going to be driven and driven hard but the reality is not that many miles. For now I am staying the ally trumpets and screens, and see how that goes getting through engineering. Then it's going to be the bare carbon fibre trumpets for the sex factor, but I think I may come up with some trick carbon CAI system for the drags or whatever. Maybe even two bonnets, the original one as is with the carbon trumpets and for street duty then maybe one with a scoop (or two) or cowl for drag or strip etc. really have to get my butt into gear and get the engineering happening. The weather now is absolutely crap so I am not missing much as I can't/won't drive it in the rain but once the weather starts to pick up I want to be in a position to really enjoy it :).

Thanks, very interesting, be nice if I could get a pair, long enough for one each side. Might do some searching unless anyone knows of one?

Had a play with Inventor, maybe something along these lines, have emailed K&N to see what they have or can do.

I don't think it would be to much trouble for K&N to make a filter element, you might need to make your own billet base and cover. Fairly simply for a man of your talents.

Had a few people ask when the Street Commodore article is coming out. looks like I made this issue just out. I haven't seen the full article myself yet, but these are a couple of the pics they have put up on their forum :)
