vr spark leads

    had my car serviced & they changed leads + plugs the leads
    didn"t have the heat sheilds,
    and have some melting on manifolds .
    ive been trying to buy the leads with heat sheilds with no luck.
    anyone know if i really need heat sheilds.

    leads with heat shields are only available through holden fro some reason. my car didn't have them for the first 2 years i had it, didn't seem to make a difference. only reason i added them on mine was because factory leads were the cheapest i could find

    i got mine with shields in the pack from supercheap bosch ones

    My VR has never had them on. Probably could, but my leads dont fail.

    also depends on the quality of the rubber / silicone leads and boots. Cheap ones will suffer more from heat than good silicone ones. Try to keep the leads off the exhaust with some clips or something. And if you find a set of heatshields, keep them and re use them each time you change your leads

    i did exactly that when i changed mine over- maybe u can get a set of shields from u-pullit?

    thanks everyone
    got a set with heat sheilds from REPCO about the same price
    as others seems to have a little more pick - up an runs alot smoother .

    was going to say, wreckers have millions of them, but you shouldnt need them to stop the leads melting, they are to help prevent heat soak, leads should only melt if they are fouling on the manifold, otherwise they are crap leads.
