if the speed sender is removed. (car is going to be used for dirt cuircuit.) will the car still run fine? is v6 auto. will it bring on eng check light etc? cheers jason
dont know if the senders are the same from vr to vs. but im assuming if you remove the VSS from the vr, which im assuming has the 4L60E in it (stock trans) it will not behave very kindly at all and will probably go into limp home mode and not change gears. the engine light would come on with some sort of VSS sender fault code also. reason for the auto playing up is that the VSS plays a vital role in determining the shift points, so no VSS, no shifting.
I had the VSS in my VR disconnected for a few days whilst I was finishing some testing, and it ran fine. Go figure.
Which speed sender? VR/VS have two, one for the gauge and one for the PCM. The car will operate as normal without the gauge sender but in 'limp home' mode without the one for the PCM.
