Vr SS Auto- engine light on and will only use 2nd and 3rd gear???

    as it says im having problems with my vr ss, auto with a stage2 shift kit, the engine light has come on and it will only shift into 2nd and 3rd gears.. Won't use 1st or 4th... would anyone happen to have any ideas what the problem could be??

    Limp Home Mode.

    What code is the computer setting?

    At a guess a or b shift solenoid, probably dislodged something then fitting the shift kit but check codes first.

    I wouldnt have a clue how to check the code?? How much of an effort would it be to find out if it's the solenoids?

    Search the forum how to retrieve fault codes vr-vs, easy as pie with a paper clip.

    No.11 of 4L60E common faults:

    11. No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or trans to PCM.

    I got code #81 in my VR shift B solenoid.

    They are easy as pie to change but you have to be careful of the aged connectors as the locking tab snaps off real easy.
    FYI I zip tied my connectors in place to prevent them working loose.
