I know exactly what you mean with the o2 wiring only just being long enough !!!

When I unwrapped my engine harness the other day I noticed you can very easily gain length on the o2 sensor and the earth wire on back of passenger side head, all you need to do is unwrap a bit of the old no doubt hard and crunchy tape around the wiring harness near where the o2 and earth connection come out the main harness and back towards the ecu direction you can simply pull the o2 sensior wires out a bit in fact u can pull them out as far as you want

This shows where it comes out the harness normally

And you can see how I immediately gain length only being stopped because I have wraps of tape to hold it neatly together

I was actually looking at extending the o2 wires and taking them down gear box harness and having connection down there and keeping the wires away from rubbing on extractors like they do in the factory set up

Good to know mine is Factory then. It had a plug and length of wiring leading to a generic type plug which then lead to an O2 sensor, which I thought was a bit odd. It's good to have factory set up again.
My wiring seems to sit well off of exhaust and touch bellhousing, although that will not get hot enough.

Pics of manifold ?

Sounds like its getting pretty close now.

No pics of Manifold until it is fitted sorry.

Yeah it's getting closer, but still a few things to do:
weld up a few pin holes in exhaust welds, Paint exhaust
Modify injectors - fit to fuel rail, fit fuel rail to intake
Fit intake and Throttle-body. all vacuum lines and fuel lines
fit distributor cap & leads
fit Carbon canister and radiator hoses. battery
FIRE IT UP!
and then a whole other list begins . . .

Manifold is fitted and torqued down,
most of the vacuum and fuel lines are run. I will fit dizzy cap and leads, then finish hoses all tomorrow.

Filled engine & trans with oils, fitted battery, hooked up garden hose and FIRED IT UP!!!

It was making a horrendous belt slipping sound, (turns out water pump pulley bolts are too long if fan is not hooked up). But got oil pressure up very fast! checked all pushrods were turning and then shut it down.
Fitted engine fan, refitted rocker covers, started it again, and ran it for 20min's. Sounded choice!

Now it's cooling :)

Is getting this fired up not reason enough to be too distracted for Footy tips, LOL.
Plus I do not have a tv to watch it on, so a bit disheartened. (might have to sort that out once car is all together)
