    Hey Guys,

For the past few days my Calais has been making this weird noise. Sounds like its coming from the bottom end. I have taken a video recording of it to make life easier rather then trying to explain it. I think the "tick tick tick" coming from the injector rail, but there is also an additional "knock" sound.

    Here is the link:

    Thanks

Here is another video of where it is coming from.... Suspecting a input/ouput shaft bearing or possibly a big end?

i don't think it's a big end bearing, from experience they start making a noise at 2000 rpm, usually before they go and the motor stops/starts to stall and seize....

could be a cracked flex plate,

It has only just happening the past few days, Haven't removed the gearbox at all. The noise seems to not be as bad when in Reverse or Drive.

sorry edited, was reading something else and got part of my reply mixed up

so not as loud when under load, i'd be looking at the flex plate/torque converter area, you'll need to remove the brace/cover underneath to get a good look

glad you replied i couldn't remember if you had to raise the motor off the kframe or not (only ever looked and know it's a tight fit, never actually removed that in car)

well yea. i dodnt have the capabilities to lift it very far. just enough to get it out. and look out for the six 13 mm bolts holding it on as they also go up into the engine and leak oil if loosened. i think its 6 13mm and 4 15 mm bolts and it helps if you have a 13 mm ratchet ring spanner cos the 2 right above the steering rack are a bitch to get to without it. i went out and bought one just for that purpose
