Vr v6 code 43 knock sensor

trying to sort someone elses problem out. check eng light stays on. threw a sensor on it (didnt help) so soldered a new plug on to wiring harness (didnt help) continuity from ecu to sensor is fine. but check engine light still on.

Is this a manual or auto VR? What pin on the ECU is the knock sensor connected too?

Check the resistance of the knock sensor. VR knock sensor should read about 3.8K ohms. If it reads 100K ohms then someone has fitted a knock sensor off a VS or VT ecotec which would set Code43 on a VR.

Its an auto, I think its D5 at the ecu plug

How did you go with this mate? Im having the exact same problem. My calais starts rough coughs and splatters then blows a little black smoke then after about 20second the eng light comes on, i check the codes and got 43, change sensor and i solderd a new plug on and still have engine light on. I cant figure it out.
