My ute with Pacies, exhaust, memcal and LSD would be on par with a VE 3.6. Once my CAI finally arrives I should get extra gains of around another 35-40RWHP. Then it will be a no brainer, VR would win hands down.
Umm, sorry bro but unless you are confusing CAI with V8Conversion, you are out of luck.
They do sound similar though . . . .

Some HJs had the fibre gear on the 202.

No but AFAIK its not catastrophic if they do go, as it would be on some of the modern engines.

Corrected the figures for you
Once my CAI finally arrives I should get extra gains of around another 7 to 10 RWHP

I was being facetious, i think some people knew that while others may not have? Gains of 7hp i wasn't even expecting that. So it will be interesting to see some dyno figures once i get all the upgrades i want done.

Yeah I saw a HJ with a spun gear once and i am pretty sure the young bloke at the time had a new set of gears fitted and he was away again.

This thread has been so far off the rails since it started, it's hard to know whether to post a serious response to the OP, but here goes anyway.
Off the line, the VR will take the lead due to superior bottom end torque and much lighter weight but by about 100 metres, the VE will start to gain due to higher rev limits in each gear. Over the quarter it would be close, but I think the VR would win. Top end goes to the VE, again because of higher rev limits.

Of course, neither would have a chance against my 2.4 auto Captiva.....
