Vr v6 won't bloody kick over

Me vr v6 won't start all lights an electrical are fine but car won't won't start it's just blank when I try turn car on it won't turn over I hear a clicking sound from engine an at rear of car I hear what I think is fuel pump but nothing after bout three mins I jag it and engine will turn an start but takes a while fiddled around with fuses an for a while car started no problem so replaced all fuses an a week later same thing any help would be great thinking fuel reg cause when I do get a start rich fuel smell an a bit of black smoke

Ignition **** itself? tab on rear of barrel breaks off, sometimes works, sometimes not
