hey guys my auto is playing up it drives fine when in drive but if u manualy select a gear take your foot of the throttle it drops back to idle then when u put your foot down to acelerate it wont engage the gear until the revs have been raised to the corect point so it sort of free revs in gear until a certain point ANY IDEAS
Check for Error Codes How To check Error Codes http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodore-how-tos/22307-checking-error-codes-vr-vs-revised.html Fault Codes Just Commodores - For All Your Holden Commodore Needs Most likely Solenoid Shift Faulty
if the cel isn't coming on and i'm guessing this would have been suggested in the first post then........ it's not an electronic (solenoid, sensor or pcm) failure.... more likely a mechanical failure in the trans itself, stuck/worn check ball in the valve body or a blown piston seal is my educated guess (will select a gear and drive fine while there is sufficient line pressure but the second it's relying on low pressure and idle engine rpm there's sfa line pressure to keep the clutches engaged, it sits there waiting for something to happen... trans reco time). By the description then when you are heading down hill and manually select a gear to use some engine braking then there is nothing? even when you throw it back to 2nd down hill at 100 km/h, car keeps heading downhill gaining speed and engine sits on idle rpm (maybe 1000-1200 rpm)?
accumulator related issues, here - ie, inconsistent line pressure, could be trans pump related - means trans out at worse, check pressure points as per ATSG guidelines
I dare say an accumulator issue would result with inconsistent gear shifts (harsh/sloppy and random) in normal operation in D/OD, either way, still sticking with a major internal fault.
yeh mate clutch plates toasted most likely plus accumulator related & pump issues = trans out, rebuild time
the car was driving fine then five minutes later it did this it still drives and shifts perfectly fine when i put my foot down it still drops back and doesnt seem to have lost power or anything.after reading up about what the solenoid does it sounds like this is what it will be .i just hope it lasts long enough for me to save up for either a new auto or a manual conversion
i will fit a nem solenoid and replace the harness and see how it goes if someone has done this before any info would be appreciated
