    Hi Guys,

Been searching for a while and cannot find info on how to install a front strut brace on a VR V8 Commodore. Can someone who has done it please shed some light? It is a standard whiteline brace and I pick it up monday.

I was also wondering whether the addition of a front strut brace without stiffening / strengthening the rear will have any bad effects?

    Thanks for any info guys

mate after reading a few threads i have found that a strut brace will not do much in the way of increase handling and such as the shock towers on the commodores are fairly sturdy, you probably will get a bit of an improvement but it's not a bolt on and do wonders type of thing. as for the brace instillation i would have thought that it would come with some kind of instructions for installation, is it new or second hand, if its new more than likely it will have instructions if it's second hand then might have to get them off the net or some of the guys on this forum, hopefully i've shed some light on your question.

Hey mate, cheers for the info. It is new so here's hoping it comes with instructions.

Not worried about improvements as such but am concerned about negative affects to other areas if any. The reason i am getting it is to preserve the strut towers as they have some cracks appearing from being on SSL and the weight of the v8 etc. The cracks are common from HQ on wards appearantly.

    Cheers mate

fair enuff mate, i would also be installing a strut brace if my towers were cracked, i have also heard that is common for them to crack, youd recon holden would have fixed the problem by the time they got the the vs, anyways i don't think that putting the brace is gonna badly effect any other area's maybe just check all the bushes on the front end, if any look cracked or worn out then it could be best to replace them so you get a nice solid and safe front end.

Hey guys, cheers again for the info.

Strut Brace finally arrived from whiteline - installation a peace of cake. Undo a couple of bolts and whack it in, no dropping of the struts or anything! No instructions unfortunately but was straight forward.

Haven't taken it for a drive but am not expected a noticeable difference in anything at this stage. Here's hoping that it preserves the towers until I get them re enforced.
