VE2 Sportwagon - VR2 V6 ecotec Wag - VS2 V6 Wag
Hi All,
Have had my VR series 2 V6 Auto returned to me after loaning it out for 2 months with a seized engine. :banstick:

I suspect the oil pump had failed as the oil light came on, sensor was replaced first, then oil and filter. Engine then stalled a few minutes later and could not be re-started.

Have removed spark plugs and tried a breaker bar on the crank shaft and there was no movement.

Not interested in rebuilding this motor, so looking for a suitable replacement. What other models V6 will be a straight drop in without too much hassle ???
Or would I need a VR Series 2 only ???

VN s2 - VR direct bolt in swap (but any vr would be best if you can find a low km one).

Did some searching and found a few interesting threads. There was a mention of fitting an ecotec from a VS and was still able to use vr accessories.

Also read a VP v6 will also just bolt in with no mods required.

Can anybody confirm if I can use a BP or VS v6 for the swap ?

If its' a VR you'll need to put in another VR V6 or later model engine to keep it legal , (I think I saw that here somewhere ) .

If the earlier model engine complies to the same ADR/Emission standards then it's legal.

Better off putting a new cam in a later engine or higher ratio rockers than using an old early clapped out vn engine for the same result, don't have to change the entire cooling system to suit and if it's an auto don't have to have the timing case machined to add the extra sensor that is required.

95vs acclaim auto v6
the vs setup will go in ,you are best advised to change full wiring harness , auto ( ecotec & auto talk to each other)& if the car is level 3 dash you could end up with that as well , have fun & learn from your mistakes
