How are you getting these times? In the 7s is too quick for a stock VS unless you have changed your diff to a lower ratio?

Sounds normal - I tested my stock vs a few times (uphill a little just to make sure) and it was mid 7s each time even with wheelspin

    Motor Tests in the 7's

I also have a copy of the Motor magazine test (August 1996 I think) of the VS S2 S model, which ran in the mid 7's.

That is the only road test on a manual that I have seen. All others have been autos, and in the mid to high 8's.

Weight makes a big difference to the launch, and the VS is much lighter than later models.

That is one reason why I bought the VS at the end, rather than wait for the VT.

Stock VS commodore 7secs? You guys are talking ****!!! A stock VS Clubby does 7.2 secs to 100 KM/H and its a 185 KW V8! A stock VS V6 commodore does 8.9 seconds, NO LESS! Im really sick of these pathetic threads where stock V6 commodore owners write up their cars as some HSVs!

If you really want to time your particular car's accelerationm times then take it to calder park (youll prolyl get laughed at) but hey if an idiot thinks his car is a rocket then he/she deserves it!!

  7. Yea.. I reckon some video foootage is the go , lads......

how are you getting your times? not sure if you realise this, but using your watch or counting out aloud "one, two, three..." when you floor it at the lights is actually not an accurate way to record your 0-100 times
    :hit:
however it does mean you can post some awesome times!

my ute gets around 6.5-6.6 average depending on the road for traction cos it has some SERIOUS traction issues LOL :yeah:

my tek teacher at school is a curious kind of person so i asked him if he could knock up a string trigger for a stop watch for a 1/4 mile and 100 meters for our go karts.......i conned him into letting me borrow them for a week and went to the airstrip and did it properly:thumbsup: hehe.....school os good for something :king:

Ok. A slight uphill ride on the highway. I stop, press button on stopwatch, floor it, get wheelspin, and stop the watch at just over 100kmh on the speedo.

Sorry but mid 7s is it - if I have a passenger I'll get a video of it - if that still doesn't prove it to some of you guys then maybe try it yourself ???

LOL Seriously this is getting funnier by the minute, do you realise that you CANT time a 0-100 KM/H run with a video camera? Furthermore if you have a passenger with you, instead of 8,9 seconds, you will now be doing around 10??? You guys really need to read some material on how mags such as Motor test their vehicles. :b:

My mistake guys it was my friends car that did 7.5 - my vs did 8.2, and vp did 9. Even so, I think you can settle down a bit :) Maybe next time I will test it on a flat stretch instead of uphill aswell. And you can get record a 0-100 run. Not easily but yes.

  17. Sorry if I have miss-read your post but... you clocked the car , doing from zero to 100 K's, while spinning the wheels??and the car not moving forwards at all????might as well just jack the car up and do it....get to 100 even quicker !!!Seriously though, doing it that way, bec, isn't reallllly a qualifying time..... what about wind resistance, bearing friction etc etc that all slow one down ???

Yep it was a misread Rat - I'd be pretty unhappy with 8 seconds if that was the case :p No what I meant was that there was wheelspin at the start when I floored it - not a great deal but enough to really annoy me :(

  19. Cheers mate..... I have Toyo wet-weather tyres on my car...they are fantastic in the wet, and are realllllly hars to spin on a dry bit of bitumen...... I love them.........

yeah i cant spin mine most of the time around cornors or on take off once they r warm but in the wet its a lot more slippery! rat do you find that? eg that your tyres loose heaps of traction in the wet (no i dont mean the obvious loss but they seem to spin too easily).
