Back to the broken hose, what are the repurcussions of it being like that ?

Absolutely nothing at all, it is just a breather I believe, they always seam to be broken in that same spot on vr/vs models
there is a line goin from fuel tank to the canister, this canister is a black round cyilendar sort of between battery and radiator

that has 2 vacume hose goin to the throttle body and keeps it in a - pressure state so gasses are sucked through the engine

I think there is then a line goin back to rear of car that breathes so the tank doesn't end up wanting to suck its self in

I got my charcol canister riped it out kicked as far as possible, its a piece off crap for emission keep the planet green crap or something, then the 2 little vac hoses on throttle body I looped over to each other, that was 10 years ago when I brought the car

Iv seen diagrams on them on here that are easy to understand, if u look at your chaise rail in engine bay on drivers side, u will see 2 steel lines there, that is where that broken line goes to, when I riped every thing out I connected them 2 lines over and the 2 on the throttle body and I throw every thing else away

Don't worrie about it, I bit it's been broken for years, it will do absolutely nothing

Thanks again for the info mate. Much appreciated. It certainly doesn't look like a fresh break that's for sure.

I'll pick up one of the exchange Injectronics modules this arvo and all should be good again.

Picked up an Injectronics exchange unit from Repco on the way home from work. $260 less 10% coz RAC member. All done and running again. :yahoo:

I've had the car for 15 years now and haven't had to replace one of these before. I guessing it wouldn't have needed to be replaced in the first 3 years of its life so 18 years is probably pretty good service given the reputation they have for failing.

awesome. it's such a pain when your car is off the road.

repco where supposed to order in a center tail shaft baring for the WK and said they would call me when they placed the order. so far I haven't head a peep from them(a week). I'm going to go down tomorrow and kick some spare parts guy ass. my local repco is pretty useless.

Yeah Repco can be up & down. I actually spent more time in the shop yesterday than it took to remove & replace the module. While the chick was helpful and everything their process is ridiculous. With the module being on an exchange basis, you need to pay a deposit ($290 !) which is refunded when you bring in the exchange unit. However I took my exchange straight up which proved a problem for the computer apparently. It had no option for the exchange to be presented at purchase.....or she had no idea what she was doing. Surely I'm not the first person to do it this way ? She finally found a dodge work around in the end which suited me.

Sure was. Much better than coil or dizzy that's for sure.

That must have taken some time. And thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately it has plenty of imperfections. So much so that I could probably start a new thread.....The Imperfections of VS 5.0 lol.

I mowed the lawn this morning and then gave her her weekly bath. With the unusual occurence of some cloud cover and freshly mowed lawn I took a few quick pics without full sun.

Looks and sounds good, only imperfection I saw was the slight crack in the rear bumper.

Dropped into Malz today to grab an exhaust hanger. 30% off storewide...nek minute, walking out with new trolley jack and axle stands.

Jumped in the car to go to the gym this morning and the battery light stayed on.

Battery isn't very old and lights, stereo etc were all working. Quick spin around the block and all appeared in order except the light was still on.

I checked the battery terminals and earths which all appeared OK.

Then I remembered Deuce had a similar problem recently and it related to the bushes on the voltage regulator so I pulled it off to see barely any meat left on them.

Luckily the local auto leccy had some in stock. Put the new one in and all is good after 50+ km round trip to work and back. Easy fix and only $60.

A couple of pics to show the difference between an 18+ year old regulator and a new one. Hopefully the new one lasts just as long.

when the alt died in the VR the brushes where down to a nub just like that. unfortunately changing the brushes and reg didn't fix it, I needed a whole new alternator. glad it was a cheap and easy fix.
