Had a bit of a wait to get out of the RAAF Airshow on the weekend so took these while killing time. She's a bit grotty from the limsestone track into the car park paddock. The cars in the background are in the exit line. Took an hour to get out.

    Thanks elmaso.

The wait could have been worse...apparently it took multiple hours for some people to get out.

Anyway...have tackled what will hopefully be the final job in sealing up the boot. Water was getting into the boot lid via the inner tail lights.

The water trail on each side.

Having considered sikaflex or similar to seal them up I decided against it in case they need to be replaced so I went to the local Clark Rubber store and they suggested this.

    3mm self adhesive foam.

    Cut a template from paper.

Stuck that to the backing of the foam with some sticky tape, cut it out with a stanley knife and bingo. New seals.

Reasonable fit with minimal final trimming.

Time will tell if they work.

Also gave the lower inside area of the boot lid a liberal dose of rust convertor as there is certainly some in there from water exposure over the years.

The window repairs seemed to have worked....since I did them I have washed the car a couple of times plus we had some rain and no sign of a wet boot.

I haven't washed the car since I did the tail lights, nor have we had any rain since either...and no sign of any on the horizon. I'll probably give the car a wash later in the week so will see how it goes and post back then to let you know.

Hey I noticed you have chrome grill inserts, may I suggest some S pack ones? They're red. Just a thought.

    Thanks mate....and here's hoping.

Of course you may......however I don't really like them. Much prefer the silver ones I have now.

I did these in photo bucket, not photo shop. It has all sorts of stuff in the edit function.

Yep, appears to have done the trick. We have had some decent rain recently. That, combined with drowning that area of the boot yesterday when I washed the car shows no sign of any water getting in. :clapping:

Thanks mate. You need to post some more pics in your thread with more views of the rims.

Just wondering if you've had the same issue i've had.
Once i sprayed the clear on to a painted lip, the colour turned yellow after a month or so.
Did you find this or am i doing something wrong?
    Thanks

I can't notice any yellowing of the clear yet. Doubt it would show up on the black parts I've painted though but the white trolley strips still look OK to me.

What process are you following ?

Thanks Mate. Looks like yours is coming along nicely. Keen to see it back together, esp the retrimmed seats.

New boot struts today. Repco part no. RGS14705 (w/spoiler) for anyone interested.

Originals had seen better days. They barely kept the boot lid up on flat ground. Any sort of incline and it wouldn't stay up at all.

Sitck your head in the boot and have a look at the movement in the brackets under the rear parcel shelf, they take a beating over the years, especially with heavier struts, one day one might snap off.
Welding is best but a couple of well placed pop rivets will hold them firmer.

Thanks for the heads up. Had a look this morning and they are solid as a rock.
