Hi there i recently put a reco lsd center into my vs and it all goes great until a few nights ago i lost 3-4 gear i have bought another box dropped tailshaft and was trying to get the left hand side exhaust flange nuts undone when i noticed a hose just hanging there with a small piece of pipe in the end im just wondering now if that is the hose that connects into the top of the box and if that could be the reason why i cant get 3-4 as i noticed it looks like this hose has been pumping trans fluid onto side of box rather than into it... any help would be appreciated as im half way through and if i dont have to swap it i wont. fluid is still red but i have given it absolute hell gone through 5 sets of rears in about 2 weeks.
thanks alot didnt know that could be done without help from holden will check and let u know once again thanks for your help
http://justcommodores.com/articles/vs_computer_v6.php vs error codes thats for once you get your codes up. because from what you said there would have to be a code there
Hi thanks again did the test as directed and im gettin 12 checked it a few times and defs 12. could it be possibly an oil issue/converter issue would u reccomend putting the new box in or just servicing the old one, your help has been greatly appreciated.thx
Thats your problem. A standard auto is not gonna last very long doing that to them. If you want to pull burnouts, and also want transmission that wont break, then your up for some serious cash to get one built to handle it.
yeah i understand that n once its goin again i wont be doing that, it was stupid but fun. im just unsure of what to do because i've found what looks to be a trans cooler hose with a 90 degree bend in it dangling beside the box and it looks like it has been pumping oil on the side of the box. just wondering if i can re-connect hose, refill oil and test if it will go into 3-4 with no tailshaft connected or is that not advisable?????
Theres a rubber trans breather tube that connects to the transmissions on the top side.It might be just that hanging down if its a rubber tube..
that would be the one. could that affect the shifting or not??? looking like the new box is going in if not.
No, I highly doubt it would. It sounds like the trans could have been overheating if its been blowing trans fluid out the breather pipe. Holden did a recall and fitted lockable dipsticks because when these autos were used for towing etc,or worked hard, the trans would get hot and blow out the dipstick and spew trans fluid everywhere. If your dipstick is tightly locked in its tube, and the trans has been hot at some stage, it might have blown the fluid out the breather instead.
if that breather tube falls loose and the metal tip drags on teh ground it'll block it off. with no way of venting.. it'll try to blow fluid out the dipstick tube. too much pressure inside the box may have damaged something. these boxes also hate overheating.
ok thanks alot for your help mate ill just pull it out n replace it. im stuck as i cant get the nuts off of where the exh manifold joins up to the exhaust so i was really hoping it would be ok. thanks for everyone's help
