I have a problem with my mothers VS, the brake lights don't come on when braking only the brake light on the parcel shelf comes on. The tail and all other night lights come on.

The fuses are correct and not blown
Checked for corrosion on bulbs, only that grease like substance is there.
Checked for frayed/cut/ect. wires in boot area, but unable to find any.

VS acclaim with IRS and ABS and Cruise.

I have searched the forums and found many problems like this but nothing exact, have tried most thing, but am still unable to find problem.

    help would be much appreciated.

Number one, replace the brake light globes making sure you use the twin filament ones. Commodores are notorious for blowing brake lights.

Also check that the earth is ok for the lights too... I can't remember what that grease stuff is for, but maybe try cleaning where the globe actually contacts the holder...

Commodores are known for the dodgy brake lights, you might think that you have a light out, but a swift tap on the outside of the lens puts the light on... showing how bad the connections usually are.

Sorry forgot to mention that i double checked they were the double filament globes, and i cleaned alot of that grease stuff off and made sure it was creating a connection. I will try tapping the globe.

What are the chances it is the brake light switch as the parcel shelf light comes on?

If one light works, then it won't be the switch. The grease is there to stop corrosion, it doesn't affect the contacts. Try a new globe.

I often get the dash warning light flashing up even when all my globes have been replaced and are working. It gives me the ****s. It seems to have stopped doing it lately. I pulled out the centre console and found a bare wire which may have been causing a short.
