Looking for a bit of advice.
Rain was pouring down and the intermittent wipers suddenly stopped, only low and high speeds available.
VS 6-cylinder, was going OK, I stopped at the shops and when I got back>
Key fob wouldn't open the doors so I just used the key in the driver's door lock.
Then turn IGN on, everything lights up but no cranking, nothing.
Read the handbook and they said to over-ride the immob leave the IGN on for 45 minutes until the red flashing light goes out.
It never went out.
Car does not crank but fuel pump primes.
I can short the starter solenoid across with a screw driver and she'll crank over but won't start.
The doors do lock/unlock every now and then, they're not 100% reliable.
I'm thinking BCM but it's all pretty new to me.

Could also be your key has gone kaput mate... Although to lose door locks and immobilizer ring at the same time is kind of uncommon but did your keys get wet at all?

The key wasn't in the best condition so I got a lift home for the spare set, still no good.
Even with a stuffed key the 45 minute immob by-pass should have worked though shouldn't it.

Yes it should have.

It does kind of sound like the BCM yes but im always hesitant to blame something with no moving parts. Perhaps ha e a look at it and see if there is any signs of liquid ingression. New damage or old damage... rust

Pulled the BCM out, looked mint.
Cleaned the plug connections with CRC, gave it a day in the sun, no difference.
I wondered if the wiper delay was also controlled by the BCM but think the manual shows a timer.
I can't find any more components to check.
All relays and fuses have been tested/swapped etc and they're all perfect.
Was reluctant to install another BCM only to find it still doesn't go.
Really thought I could by-pass the BCM and have it run with the yellow dash light on.
It did this about 18 months ago out in the sticks when the key did the same thing, car wouldn't start so sat for 45 mins and away she went. But the engine check light stayed on the whole trip back, Gladstone to Brisy.
Wasn't game to turn it off until it was back in the garage and of course it has bloody started perfectly ever since.

If the theft deterrent signal isn't received by the PCM from the BCM shouldn't the CEL on the dash remain unlit? That would be a clue to the BCM being at fault.

The later production VS have the antitheft bypass ignition on time increased to 2 hours. If you've already used that and it started after 45 mins (and that's what the handbook says) probably not that but if you know about it you can at least decide to try it or not.

Any fault codes? The theft deterrent signal missing should throw a code 31.

I gave it half a day with IGN on, now that it's back in the shed, still nothing.
Haven't ever tried fault codes, I'll look up the book on how to do that and see what she throws.
I tested the auto's switch (P, N) and that was working OK.
Are there any other components or hidden relays to check?

So the codes were 12 then 31.
31 is theft deterrent module not present ?????

Just an update.
Scored a BCM and matching fobs from cander24 on this forum.
All fixed, great success.
Thanks a million Chris.
