VS bcm mid - numbers interchangeable?

Looking for a mid BCM and it's proving pretty hard to find. the ones I'm trying to replace are a 142 and a 462 - ive located a 789. will that work with either? thanks guys

So you are looking for a Berlina BCM ?? also what is the accurate build date of the vehicle you wish to fit it to. Cheers.

No I don't, but remembering that you will require the mating key head with the replacement BCM.

BCM's on their own are totally worthless, basically nothing more than E-waste.

apparently not. Ive chatted with a bloke that reckons he can re-write any key (i call BS) to match the BCM

Hi, Thinking that if BCM’s are E-waste
then I should obtain a spare for my
VR SS.
Has anyone pulled one apart ?
Maybe there is a chip that can be swapped over to replacement and this will transfer the key code across.
Feasible ?

VATS can be disabled in a BCM. Which means as long as you have the correct type of BCM to suit your bus, one without the key can still be used.

That's not very polite ??

Yes I understand that this can be done but in general as a straight swap over the key goes with the BCM so as to avoid many issues of chip reading etc. (E-Proms) which is a rather specialised service and just adds heaps to the cost. Why do you think most wreckers hang on to keys and put them with removed BCM ?

Yes Holden keys are infact re-writeable, but this is a very specialised job and if you had to pay for it then you'd just not bother with it and get a new key, get it programmed by a locksmith as per normal.

i"m still looking for an answer to my question - can mid be used in mid regardless of the numbers? if not, why? what will be affected?

Just a note that VS and VR bcm and not swappable. Wiring connections and signal.to ecu is different.
