    Hey Guys

Wondering if anyone here might be able to help me with a bit of an issue with my car. I went overseas for about 12 months and in that time i left the car in the garage and just had it taken for a drive every month or so. When i came home and ran the car the temp gauge is constantly Fluctuating. I tock it to the mechanic and they replaced water pump, radiator and thermostat. But still it Fluctuates. When the car is moving the temp sits at 1/4 and when i stop at lights if will just hover to 3/4 and stop there till car starts moving again. Thermo fan seems to be workin fine too. I have had the radiator pressure tested and there is no leak, but there is a small amount of oily residue around the radiator cap. Just weird that b4 i left the car sitting there for a while the temp gauge would always just sit on 1/2 and never move. Thanks.

Get a pressure test done on the cooling system, and get the engine compression tested. Its the only sure way to tell if there is an internal problem like a blown or leaking inlet manifold gasket or a leaking/blown head gasket. These tests are pretty cheap to get done. Some people on here say their VS normally runs at 3/4 on the temp gauge. My VS V6 sits at 1/4 on the highway and the fan cuts in at half way when sitting in traffic.
