Hi guys, Im having some issues and electrical diagnosis isn't my strong point. 1. A week ago my digital climate control unit **** itself, a decent puff of smoke from the dash, pulled the unit apart and there is a fried capacitor. I got a second hand unit from the wreckers, rigged it up but no go, the buttons light up but it wont turn on, I have no power from any pin in the top plug that goes in the back, which I am assuming is to power the lcd etc. I cant find a climate control fuse. 2. Reverse lights wont work, keeps blowing the fuse, I know its a short somewhere I really cant be bothered finding it so im asking you guys, maybe its a common problem and easy fix... im hoping so, any help will be much appreciated. Cheers
did you check all the fuses or just the one that says thermo control? use a test light or DMM to test all the fuses in the pannel. failing that, just remove them all one by one. if you had a blown capacitor, the chances of there being a blown fuse is very high. when a capacitor blows its due to an overload of power or it incorrectly dischargine as it is basically just a battery.
Yes I used a test light and multimeter on all fuses under the dash, the only one not working is my reverse/canister purge fuse. Im going to test the relays today and that module in the dash near the stereo.
