I just happened to look under the back end of my VS Berlina S2 and saw that it does not have IRS. I could be wrong, but I thought all the higher model VS's had IRS. I just can't believe it took me this long to look under the car!
Berlina's generally did not come out with irs, cruise, ABS braking or airbags as these where optional features. Berlina's where Executives with added luxury features such as climate control, remote boot release, L3 dash, chrome exterior striping and alloy wheels however generaly kept the Executive interior trim. Acclaim's where Executives with added safety features such as; IRS, SRS airbags, ABS braking, cruise control, unique Acclaim hubcaps and body coloured mirrors. Acclaims came out with a higher end interior trim. Calais was a mixture of the luxury options of a Berlina with the Safety options of a Acclaim.
WTF......??? Berlinas interior is much superior to acclaims. Berlinas had stock power options and what not, but in the VS, irs was still optional. Pretty sure ABS was stock with the berlina too
VS Acclaim (sedan) had dual airbags, ABS and IRS standard with an executive type trim. VS Berlina (sedan) only had drivers airbag, ABS and solid axle as standard. Berlina had mid level electrics. climate control, central locking and alarm. Irs and Passenger airbag were options on the berlina sedan. Also with seats the Acclaim used executive seat frames while the Berlina used same frames as SS, Calais and Statesman.
Well my car has ABS, cruise, slightly nicer interior, climate control, drivers airbag, power windows and arial, etc. I just thought they also had IRS but looks like I was wrong
My bad, thought we were talking about a VR, next time i will read it better. However everything i said was correct when refering to the VR series. Yes the VS Berlina did come with ABS, electric windows, cruise, climate control, l3 dash, nicer trim, remote boot release, electric arial and a driver's airbag standard but not IRS or a passanger airbag as standard. The seat frames were the same from from Executive through to Calais though with the only difference being the rear seat where it had headrests and a fold out armrest. When refering to trim however, Acclaims never had the same trim type as an Executive. They had a unique trim type which was also used in S-packs. This was also the same trim used in SS apart from the SS emblem embrodery and the rear seat where it also had headrests and centre a fold out arm rest.
Are you sure about the remote boot release? Because I thought they did too but mine doesn't have it. Or could the key have been replaced with an older one by the previous owner?
is there a boot release button in the glovebox? if there is then im pretty sure that means that it should have the key release too. or you can also have a look under the bootlid and see if you can see the boot release actuator. either one of these and then you will know.
Yes, all Berlina's came with the remote boot release as standard. There was a boot button on the key fob, as well as the button inside the glovebox, either could be used to unlock the boot, or you could do it the old fashioned way by actually using the key to unlock the boot!
Question on the remote boot release.. Did Holden fall out of favour with this on the VS? My VL had it, my VN has it... But my VS did not?
For the camber kit issue, You are lucky that yours isn't IRS. Tire wear is just not good on IRS cars and camber kit only improves the wear - not totally rid of it and even worse when the car is lowered.
^^thats the second thing i thought of. Right after 'that exhaust i ordered isn't going to fit on that!' :bang: It does have the boot release button in the glovebox, ill have to check for the actuator when i wash my car today
FE2,5L V8 and a LSD(V8only) were also options.I think the IRS is better in its own way as it handles better,i dont need to drop it on its guts for great handling
Simple Terms In simple terms, the VS model range went Executive, Acclaim (Exec with safety features - ABS, SRS, IRS), Berlina (Exec with luxury features - climate control A/C, better seats, etc) and Calais (Exec with safety features AND luxury features). Thus Calais had IRS as standard, but Berlina did not not. It was available as an option on Executive and Berlina though.
Does your key have 3 buttons on it, if it doesn't then someone may have used a wagon/ute key which only have 2 buttons.
The key only has the 2 buttons, which is why I assume the previous owner had used a cheap replacement. And since I just paid $100 for a new one a few weeks ago I think i will just keep living without the remote
