Should a VS Calais V6 have the front Electric Fan that sits in front of the Air Con Condensor.

No, it should be sitting behind the radiator. I don't see how calais get different setup than other lower end models in the VS range.

Your previous VR got a buick V6 engine which has slightly different fan setup than the VS's which got the Ecotec engines.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. This is what I think.

The auxiliary electric fan ahead of the airconditioning condenser was only used for the VR V6 and for VR/VS V8 models. The VS V6 had a two speed fan behind the radiator which replaced the need or an auxiliary fan.

Correct. Whenever the air conditioning compressor clutch is activated ie you have the air con running, the radiator cooling fan will operate. The fan will also operate when the coolant temperature sensor detects the need for it. Generally you will only hear it run on the lower speed, which is pretty noisy anyway, but on warmer days, especially with the a/c running, you will hear it go up a notch to the high speed, which is very loud and throws copious amounts of hot air out from underneath the car.
