Ok I have made some progress. After pulling my dash apart I have found that it has passenger and drivers airbags in it. The dash has been pulled apart and half destroyed due to either over tightening screws or using a cordless to assemble dash. I would say the air bags where replaced as it I have got no doubt my car has been in a serious accident on front passenger side and the airbag module is telling my mechanic that both airbags have been deployed. Replaced the module and everything tested up good and airbag light went out.
As for the gear change problem I have well I still havn't
Got to the bottom of it. My mechanic has told me he found that after he cleaned the terminals on computer it stopped logging code 19. But since has logged it again. Now here's where it gets weird. After alot of money spent with my mechanic and then taking it to a transmission specialist ( he said that my auto was fine and it was computer related) my car was still changing like a bucket of s#*#.
Well here's how it happened. Me my girlfriend and my mate decided to take my car to town on Sunday night. Being that it was my friends first ride in my car I thort I'd show off a little. Leaving my driveway I locked it in first and tramped it leaving my driveway, it kicked out sideways up the road. When it went to grab second it hesitated and then the engine light came on. I backed off thinking what now. Little did I know, it changed perfect the hole way to town, dropped back gears and all. I got on the turps in town and left it in town and got a ride home. My gf picked it up and drove it home yesterday, today. I drove it all day today and it changed perfectly it's going better than ever. I checked the codes tonight and it has logged code 19 and 45.
So why now that it's telling me it's got a crook oxygen sensor is it changing gears and running better than ever.
I have also developed another problem I need to solve. I installed a second hand aircon compressor from the wreckers along with all Vs pulleys brackets and alternator. Was fine for a week and now I have noticed a knocking noise from the driverside of the engine. It's not there all the time, I can't get it to do it when I have the bonnet popped but it sounds like it's in the lower part of the rev range and I can't notice it above about 2200rpm. Is it common for the aircon compressors to knock when they are had it? If so is it likely to be a bearing or the compressor itself? The aircon works great, and nice and cold. It still happens when air con is off. Can the bearing be replaced? Jeez I hope I don't have a knock comming from the motor.
