ok so something real weird is going on with my car and i have no clue what it is, when i take off the trans dosnt slip but it will rev up to about 4g before it will change into second, every other gear is fine. and just recently it has lost reverse and neutral, it goes park then drive and thats it and it wont rev past 1500 in park, any ideas of what this could be?
Probably means that the end is near for your transmission...check the colour of the transmission oil - should be pink...if brown and smelling burnt this indicates worn trans. I'd also do a codes check: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au...22307-checking-error-codes-vr-vs-revised.html If not the trans then it could be anything from a blocked catalytic converter to a misadjusted change linkage, but my money is on the trans on it's way out, unfortunately.
yeah the trans fluid is fine ive only had the car for a few weeks, usually a ford guy lol, but yeah gave it a full service when i bought it
These transmissions use the signal from the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) on the engine to help regulate the auto trans shifts, and the trans can play up and do all sorts of strange stuff if this sensor is not 100% right,so it might be worth trying another TPS first..
The fact that it has lost reverse is possibly very bad - check this site for problems: 4l60e Problems and Solutions - S-10 Forum
hmm reverse clutch drum housing broken, sounds like it could be wrong, but dont sound good, you did a full service the other day, a trans service? any metal in the sump? what was the oil like when you did the service
yeah i did a trans service, and the wasnt really any metal in the fluid, but yeah its sort of like its stuck in drive because every gear from 1 to R is D and then when you put it in park it still moves forward untill the park brake kicks in, and then when you turn the car off in park it inches forward a bit
yes but it still had reverse and park this is a new problem, but another update, it will now drive forward in P R N D 3 2 1 just like its in drive goes through all gears even in 1, power econ button dosnt have any effect on anything except holds first even longer
I'd also be checking the big round electrical plug under the rubber boot that plugs in is firmly in place. (located front top of gearbox on the drivers side.)
