I brought a vs calais for 700$. And it has a really bad miss. It has been sitting for over a year. I dumped 3 bottles of engine flush and done 2 services on it. Flushed the old oil out. Done a cheap oil service and flushed it again then used some decent oil. It made it run alot better. What can I check to see if I can fix the idle.

    + Checked the error codes?
+ Does it do the same thing if you hold the throttle open slightly? (~2000rpm)
    + Changed plugs ?
+ Checked leads resistance and checked for any corrosion on the coil pack posts?
+ Replaced fuel filter? maybe there might be some crap stuck in it, starving the engine of fuel

    Hope those help you out.

Ignition and fuel system check. Check engine management system also.

Clean throttle body and IAC valve. Check for oil residue in plenum runners for 5 and 6 cylinder, PCV valve could be fingered.

Firstly I would make sure your plugs are the same and then as Kbagz said check your IAC I had a vey similar problem and it was from years of **** built up in the Idle Air Control Valve so I got some carby cleaner and blasted the **** out of it and havent had the problem since

Have you checked to see if there is a air leak around the injectors/rail there could be a faulty seal causing this also check the dfi plate under the coil pack unit as A mate had a similar problem and there was a build up of crap on the plate which was causing it to heat up and screw with the ignition and check to see if the plug that plugs into the dfi has any pin corrosion as this will cause a miss aswell. One of the biggest problems with the connection was the plating that commodore used on the pins and this would cause bad connection.
But i would have figured if it was a dfi or coilpack problem it would have registered a code but check that connection anyway easy to do and now and then they can do with a clean anyways

Check the rest of the ignition system as above.

Could even be a slighty stretched throttle cable.
