I have recently being having a problem with my VS series II ute.
It has been having its moments where it will not start and just wind, sounding like it wants to start.

Some times it will start without hesitating and other times it just will not start.
I've had a mechanic look at it when he was fixing a few other things on it but it seemed to always start when he had it at his shop, until I got it home where it started doing it again.
Anyway I have no idea and don't really want to pay a lot of money to fix it. It seems like some sort of electrics are stuffing up but not sure, maybe immobilizer.

Cheers, let me know what you think :)

Try pressing the unlock button on the keyhead just before you turn the key to start.......or......turn the key to ignition, wait 2 secs and then try to start.
Commodores need a good battery to start reliably - if yours is more than 2 years old it might be time to replace it.

EDIT....has the ute recently had a fuel pump replaced, and does it start bad when fuel is below 1/3?

A problem i recently had was because of the air control solenoid on top of the throttle body.
