Hey all my 1996 clubsports rear right bumper seems to have unclipped itself and im wondering if there is a fast way to put it back on. Id prefer it if i didnt have to remove the entire bumper, I tried to push it back up onto the clip but she wont give. Ill try to get a picture loaded up to further explain. Thanks.

My wife's VS Clubsport has the same problem. I'm planning to operate on it this weekend.

There's 2 screws near the back wheel. One vertical and one horizontal. Undo both of them (the bottom one has a clip that will fall off, can be a pain to get back on). Then gently pull the bumper away from the body. There are two clips that secure the bumper to the body, so try and pull as close to the clips as you can. Once that's done simply pull out, lift up and set it in above the clip. The secure back onto the clips on the side and screw back together. Should take all of 5 minutes for the whole process.

Also make sure you do the top screw up TIGHT I had this problem as well and it would constantly unclip its self.

And because of their shitty structural design, some bumpers will sag over time deeming it almost impossible for the bumper to stay secured to the clip under the tail light... Like mine!

If your vs clubby bumper is saggy and won't stay clipped... you know it's genuine

Just adjusted the rear right bumper bar on my wife's VS Clubsport today. All worked smoothly (removed road wheel, removed screws, adjusted bumper bar, inserted vertical screw) until I came to replace the screw on the bottom clip. What a ba....d of a system. Took ages of trial an error to work out what was needed to adjust the clip so that you could reinsert the retaining screw. Even then, there was too much play in the clip and I had to insert a stiffener screw into the clip itself. As Capt Awesome says, it may be due to sagging, but in this case it has also been due to some parking dings while the car was unattended at a shopping centre. Will be interested to see how long/if the adjustment lasts.

Hah, yeah it's s **** of a thin because it detracts from the whole look of the car!

BlackVXGTS, that clip is a stupid idea! Can be such a pain in the ass to align it properly again. Hopefully it stays on though. I'm on the hunt for another genuine rear bar, but they're not the easiest things to source!

Well, I've tried to fix this twice now but it still pops out after a week or so of driving. Has anyone had any success with fixing this problem permanently?

I think the best idea is to fabricate and rivet or weld a few additional clips along that Seam to give the bumper more surface area to purchase. Also it'll make it look a lot nicer when that seam is nice and straight coz even if that one clip does hold it up, gravity eventually pulls the bumper down a lil and opens up the seams making it look ugly... A problem some women might find with their breasts come to think of it lol
