    VS Executive S2
    Hey all
Just wondering, i have a VS S2 Executive 5spd and its time for a new clutch...now i have called a few places and apparently there is a high possibility that i have to replace the dual mass flywheel at the same time i have to replace the clutch because the dual mass flywheel fcuks up.

The quotes i have got have averaged $1900 to replace the 2. Has anyone else come across this problem?? is there any other alternative ie use a single plate flywheel from another car?? also does anyone recommened somewhere in brisabane to get the clutch done??

    Cheers
    Andrew

    There are options.

First, I believe that $1,900 is too much.

I have recently had mine done, and used the nearest brake/clutch place for $1,450 installed.

It is possible to replace the dual mass flywheel and use a different clutch kit. I could have converted for $1,100, with subsequent changes just requiring a clutch kit.

However, I was told that it had a very noticable rattle at idle.

Since this was the first unscheduled maintenance in eight years, I decided to stay with the stabdard equipment.

    More Info.

    Hi,

Further to my note last night, try:

    http://www.exedy.com.au/store/default.pl

I believe that they sell a solid flywheel replacement clutch system. They will also point you to companies that sell and install same.

As I said, I believe about $1,100 sees the job done with this change, and about $1,450 for the standard system.

    Cheers.

it's not the fact that the dual mass flywheels stuffs up, it's just that you cannot machine it like you would a single piece when you replace your clutch. i have recieved a quote from mal wood auto for $950 for heavy duty clutch and single piece flywheel.
