There's no harm in trying your idea either though, worth a shot sometime, sound similar tithe VZ 90mm hole mod

His idea of just drilling a hole would probably be the better one if you wanted to save some cashola. Mace have my vote for the best CAI though.

Had the Supercharged OTR CAI on my VR, with a few holes cut in the airbox. I decided to take it off one day, and I felt a difference straight away.
It seems like a bit of a restriction and a good way to heat up your intake.
Only thing it offers is it makes the engine bay a bit better!

Wouldn't worry about trying to fit a VT CAI in your car...
Like everybody else has said, go MACE.
