ladies and gents i have a lil problem, its only within the first 5mins of the car being started.. i let the car "warm up" for 30-60sec.. once i drive off, the car stuggles up to about 3k rpm then is fine, happens really only 2 or 3 times then its fine n dandy below the 3k rpm range.. it doesnt carry on with high loads.. runs and idles fine (until it pops a vacuum hose off, getting that fixed soon) :whistling The problem is similar to the old carby engines, in the morning, needing to give it a lil choke before its warms up a lil.. then its fine.. lack of fuel? things replaced: fuel pump, filter, plugs and leads replaced mid-early this year, its had its service 1k ago, throttle body & IAC cleaned a month ago after removing bored throt (to go back to standard size) was doin it before i changed it, oil pressure sender changed jan 07, the only thing that hasnt been looked at is the injectors.. Its a VT engine, so its wearing the green long injectors that dont last long after cleaning.. im leaning towards them at fault and replacing them.. but i need a lil help to narrow it down..
hmm, how bout the temp sensor? is it working ok? if that played up, during a cold start the engine would be a bit grumpy due to inaccurate fuel supply. an unlikely thing, but get the mulitmeter out and just check it to be sure. as for the injectors, are you running the VS pcm, or the VT one with the engine...i cant remember. if its the VS one, it would be good to get some VS injectors (cheap as these days) instead, as the VT ones dont quite flow as much, i think off the top of my head they flow about 2lb less than VS injectors. not sure whether this would cause your problem, but its possible.
cheers for the quick response sircruise umm temp sender is working, will have to multimeter it tonight to be sure, but seams to be fairly accurate. im still runing my VS pcm, i've had the VT engine for bout 3 years and its been working sweet up until bout 1-2months.. thought it was a batch of bad fuel but she eats once a week (cant be 8-10 bad batches). i can confirm the VT injectors dont flow as much, as im getting better fuel economy since this engine is in (no complaints here! ) the thing that confuses me is its really only 3-5 stabs at the throttle pedal, when shes real moody, then shes fine all up the rev range. first 2 stabs shes fine, just 3-5.. now my "stabs" arent WOT, its just 1/2 throt or above, to get over the 3k rpm to get moving with traffic..
hmm, thats a bit strange, lol. you'd expect it to run good or run bad, not a bit of both. im still kinda leaning towards some sort of fuel supply issue, either in what the pcm is telling it to do, or with injectors or other delivery systems not being efficient. but then you've replaced alot of the gear, so it "should" work well. im going to gather you've checked the codes? nothing there? only other thing that comes to mind at the moment is if you've got a spare iac lying around or can flog one of another commy for a day or something, just see if that changes anything at all.
yea its a loopy problem, just wish it would fail lol or just work.. yeap nothing logged unfortunately.. BUT! (yes big one) about a month ago, trying to work out wtf was goin on, i checked codes, and it threw up a left bank lean or something along the lines, which is why im thinking injectors.. or fuel. but i cleared the codes and its logged nothing since.. grrr @ ecu i thought about the IAC, and tested it for resistance, checked out fine, but had kinda dismissed it coz its fine at idle, only when you open up the throttle.. might raid my stash n see if i have one, unfortunately, non of my mates in Melb have a VS-VY so i cant swap.. any more thoughts????? got me stumped too
yeah, im a little bit stumped at the moment too, lol. damn those difficult problems! i like it when its just an easy "replace that and it'll be fine" fix. if its saying something about a air/fuel ratio discrepancy between left and right banks it could be an O2 sensor....
hahah changed them 1year ago.. BUT i know it doesnt mean there not shagged, but last time it threw me a code and engine light.. i hate these problems!!
the sensors themselves dont have to be stuffed, could just be that pesky wiring problem the O2 sensors have. hope you work out whats going on man, i also hate these random problems, drives you nuts.
