    Hi,

I started the car after nearly 2 weeks of it sitting and i can't help but notice the cars running like $#!T . It's idling rough and back firing when it's reved??
I changed the pod filter back to the standard box the other day because i'm selling the car. I cleaned the MAF sensor and checked vac hoses. I have run diagnostics on the car and got error codes 32 and 97 which are Manifold Air Flow Sensor and Canister Purge Solenoid. Whats the go???

    Cheers.

Code 32 would probably be causing it to run crook. Check out the MAF (mass airflow meter), maybe try another MAF unit, also check its wiring and connectors etc for any problems. When I was getting code 97 on my VS, it was badly misfiring at cold startup. I replaced the purge cannister soleniod at the rear of the engine and its been good ever since, starts perfectly, hot or cold.

Remove and unplug your MAF run the car for about 20 seconds turn it off reconnect. Sounds stupid but it worked on mine. Plus check your vacumme lines.

Still got the problem. I noticed the temp gauge isn't working anymore, stopped working when the car started running rough?? what could that mean? I replaced the thermostat and the colant temp sensor next to the thermostat housing. I reckon i need to test the sensors from air flow to oil. How is this done? multimeter, and what should each sensor read? Thanks, Jake

Cheers . Where abouts is this purge canister solenoid ? My mechanic said something about purge but he mumbled the rest . I'm also buying a diagnostic scan tool to save the hassle of taking it to him all the time .

The GM part number for the canister purge solenoid is 01997210. I paid $120 for mine through the local holden dealer.

Would the car work without MAF meter and purge solenoid ? I had all air sensors unplugged and solenoid at same time and car ran a bit rough but nothing like how it runs every so often when it shits itself . I'm gonna take it to a auto electrician on weekend its gotta be something else ......
